Female genital mutilation is as old as mankind itself. It's a cultural practice which hitherto has widely been practiced across different culture and ethnicity worldwide .
Our grandparents, old women in the village etc where the major drivers behind this. Up till today, most communities are still upholding this cultural ignorance in high esteem.
In this barbaric act , an adolescent girl is usually subjected to the fllowing:
1. Clitoridectomy- Her CLITORIS is completely cut off
2. Her labia minora and Majora is completely removed.
3. The frenulum is totally removed.
Mostly, a blunt knife, nail or palm front peel is used to inflict the pains.
The victims are usually left with an open wound that refuse to heal for years. Sometimes, germs and bacteria becomes domicile there. It smells, stinks, itches and promote discomfort anytime undies or sex approaches.
So bad a thing, until a young girl is subjected to this act, she is not in anywhere qualify to be welcomed into the clique of womanhood.
Ignorantly, they considered this act sacred due to the following belief of theirs :
1. They so much believe that any lady with CLITORIS will become promiscuous due to excess feelings for sex.
2. They also believe that cutting off those organs will make the girls to lose interest completely in sex; Thus, maintaining virginity.
3. High bride price for virgin daughters became their motivating factor.
HEALTH COMPLICATIONS
Unknowingly, they were inflicting those innocent girls with the following:
- Infections
- Bitter sex experience
- Destroyed Organs
- Scarring
- Deadly bleeding during childbirth
- Long term barreness
- Complications from infection which may even induce death.
- Compromised Anatomy.
OUR PREACHING
1. Every woman has equal right to enjoy sex. CLITORIS is to them what penis is for men. That's their center of pleasure. The issue of promiscuity or whatsoever is all premised on the foundation you laid for your children.
2. Female genital mutilation is an act of cultural wickedness on women's folk. That thing should stop from today.
Conclusively, every one of us should become an advocate of this tainted preaching in communities, churches, schools, Interior villages, town hall meetings, clubs, Cities, Etc.
