GOVERNOR EMMANUEL, OTHERS CELEBRATE AKWA IBOM CAN BOSS AT 60

Governor Udom Emmanuel was among thousands of Akwa Ibom Christian faithful who celebrated with the family of Reverend (Dr.) Ndueso Ekwere at a colourful church service to mark his 60th birthday and 35th marriage anniversary.

The service held at United Evangelical Church(QIC), Itu, was witnessed by several dignitaries who came to appreciate God for His favour on the life of Rev Ekwere, who is also the State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

Governor Emmanuel who was the Special Guest of Honour, said Dr Ekwere has been honoured by God and “we are here to celebrate God’s favour in his life.”

He reminded the CAN boss that his elevation means that he should look beyond doctrinal biases and denominations and provide leadership for the entire Christian family in the state.

Mr Emmanuel reasoned that the Cleric was accountable to God and urged him to unite Christian bodies in service to God.

The Governor commended the couple for maintaining a harmonious relationship for 35 years, and rained encomium on his wife, Deaconess Ekwere for being a great pillar of support to the family.

“When we see people at 35 years in marriage, we thank God for their lives. When the Minister of God said so many things about a virtuous woman, I really learnt a lot, it is not common to have that level of testimony over a wife these days,” he said.

The Celebrant, Reverend Ekwere was so full of excitement and thanked the Governor and other top Government functionaries for honouring his family with their support.

He thanked God for his supportive wife and children and promised to continue to reciprocate God’s favour on him through diligent service to humanity.

In his sermon at the occasion, Rev Umo Bassey Eno, commended the CAN Chairman for being an exemplary Christian who showed appreciation to God for the favour in his life.

Drawing his message from Psalm 39:20, Rev Eno asserted that, “a man who is thanking God can never run dry of oil,” as thanksgiving is the key to supernatural victory.

He enjoined everyone to invest in a glorious future by being thankful to the giver, maintaining that “If you can’t thank man publicly for what he has done for you, you can never be able to thank God.”

Eno, a nephew of the celebrator, posited that, “Gratitude is a spiritual force that empowers us to scale higher; when a child thanks you for the blessings of yesterday, he will get the blessings of today.”

Others who spoke at the occasion included Senator Effiong Bob and Elder Unyime Idem,  co-chairmen of the event who also commended the celebrator and his family for their hearts of thanksgiving to God.

The event featured cutting of anniversary cake, ballad presentation by a brother of the celebrator and a recitation of the Dakkada creed by a seven year old grandchild of the CAN chairman.
