-TO COMPLETE ETEBI EWANG ROAD

The Akwa Ibom State Government has since commenced the construction of five more roads in Oron metropolis after the completion and commissioning of a previous five, including Efiat Street , Bassey lane , Bassey Street ,Awanasin , Maryanne and Post office street with water channelization to deflood the town .
The Honourable Commissioner for works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang –Eyen revealed this to the superior Performance crew, adding that, Governor Udom Emmanuel had long awarded contract for the construction of Atta Street , Ebo Street , Market Street , Muritala Mohammed Road and Asbestonit Road.
The commissioner also explained that, the reason for the selection of these Roads for construction in Oron metropolis, is to channel-out flood water, which had in past decades, ravaged the city of Oron, killing both adults and children during rainy seasons.
Mr Inynag-eyen said the Market Street drainages will be linked to both Awana Esin Road and Post office Street, complete with water channelization to serve as outfalls drainage that will collect the flood water and channel it to the river basin.
In his words, Mr inyangeyen said, ‘’Governor Udom Emmanuel had awarded Contract for additional jobs in Oron Metropolis and this will help in deflooding the city. As you may know, this is the second phase of the project and according to our contractor , WE Construction, the Roads will be ready for commissioning during the second anniversary celebration of his Excellency ‘’
He further added that, "We have also re-awarded the contract for dualization Uyo- Oron Road to two major contracting firms , we gave it to two companies so the road will be delivered in record time ,as at the time it was first awarded . Accordingly GUTECT Construction works in section one , from Airport to Okopedi Okobo and the Giant Chinese construction firm CCECC will take from Okopedi to East-West Road to the beach Market in Oron’’ He said
In another development, Akwa Ibom State Government also awarded Contract for the construction of Ibaka Superhighway, a dual carriageway that will start from Ukpenekan Junction on Eket –Ibeno Road and cut across three Local Government Areas of Ibeno, Esit Eket and Mbo .
The road which is a six lane road from each side, will also have futuristic railway lines to link up to the Federal Government proposed Niger Delta rail lines. Ibaka superhighway according to the Honourable commissioner will open up the entrance to the construction of Ibom Sea Port, which construction will commence in 2017 by God grace.
‘’ I want to also use this opportunity to inform every well-meaning Akwa Ibom sons and daughters, that, Governor Udom Emmanuel will soon recommence work on the uncompleted Etebi Ewang Road , the past administration had committed a lot of funding into that project, and Governor Udom will never allow that wealth to waste ,he is eager to complete that project for the use of Akwa Ibom people who voted him to power. I can assure , with good funding to the State, In 2017 the completion of that project will commence’’ he noted.
During the briefing the Commissioner also revealed to superior Performance, that Government will also award contract for the construction of two major roads in Okobo Local Government Area and pleaded with the Youth of the State not to constitute any barrier to contractors handling projects in the State and if there is any grievances they should contact his office , as he will do everything possible to resolve such issues timely .
