The question is: what really do the people want?
It is not really about the money you dole out for people to share. No! No! No! Such money which amounts to nothing really, is not what moves the masses. All they truly want is that, this leader shows the common touch.
Political office holders are too aloof. They cruise in long or short convoys, with a retinue of fierce looking, combat-ready, heavily armed security men, whose brief, is to scare the people away with a stern impenetrable security cordon. Are they at war with their people or when did their constituencies suddenly become sambisa forest?
The political office holder, who, during campaigns, or before ascending the 'dizzying' height of power and privilege, was mixing and exchanging banters with the crowd, takes to self-isolation, insulating himself consciously with practiced effort from the people.
He becomes a VIP and treats the people like Ebola or Lassa fever stricken patients that must be avoided. This breaks the peoples heart.
Barr. Luke isn't like that. Like Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state, he hasn't lost the touch of the street and relating with commoners. The very base from where, every 'big man' started out.
The type of Governor, Senator, Representative, Minister, Commissioner, Council Chairman, Councillor, General Overseer, Archbishop, whatever your high station, the people want, is the one who doesn't start acting like a god among men, once he ascends the rung to the top.
