Stubborn property owners who had received full value of compensation for their buildings but refused to relocate to new sites to allow for free execution of the road construction in Oron have regretted their actions,as government ordered the demolition of such structures today.
The Honourable Commissioner for Works Mr Ephraim Inyang who was on inspection visit to the road construction and erosion control sites in Oron LGA, opined that Governor Udom Emmanuel has no excuse to give to the people than to deliver quality projects to in line with his campaign promise to them.
Mr Inyang who gave WIZCHINO ENGR LTD,the construction company handling Oron Road project ,a pat on the back for expediting action in the project execution ,described property owners who refused to remove their structures after being paid as enemies of development The Works Commissioner urged contractors to intensify efforts and maximize the dry season period to deliver project according to all technical specifications as promised . He therefore instructed that all buildings within the project alignment along Bassey Lane and Effiat Lane in Oron be removed to allow for the smooth operations of the construction work.
The Honourable Commissioner who inspected all the project sites in area was highly impressed by quality of work done in Anwana Esin street which is about 80percent completed and called on the contractors ensure the proper channelization of the erosion of the affected areas.
