Zamalek SC chairman, Mortada Mansour, has blasted his team for lacking motivation in their 2-0 defeat to rivals and Egyptian champions Al Ahly in their  Monday’s Cairo derby, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Nigerian duo; Maarouf Youssef and Stanley Ohawuchi were in the Zamalek’s starting eleven for the match.

Two goals from Walid Soliman and Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi made sure Al Ahly finished the season unbeaten.

Despite the defeat, Zamalek finished third on 66 points in the league table and will compete in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup. Al Ahly will feature in the CAF Champions League.

Mansour however congratulated Al Ahly for emerging champions of the Egyptian league.

“Congratulations to the Ahly fans on winning the league title and also for the victory in the derby,” Mansour told ON Sport television.

“I am totally astonished that our players played without any motivation against Ahly. Unlike the Ahly players, who were determined to win to end the league run unbeaten.”

Mansour however, singled out Zamalek’s rookie keeper Omar Salah for praise following his heroics which hwlpes Zamalek to avoid heavier defeat.

“Salah is a wonderful goalkeeper. He is a respectable person,” Said Mansour.

“He saved his net from seven or eight certain goals. He is a promising star for the future,” he added.
