Industrialization is nothing without the proper institutionalization of science and technology in any domain as this is the building block of modern day civilization in any sphere you can think of be it health, security, sports, agriculture etc.
Dr. Nse Udo Essien has worked really hard and round the clock to epitomise the new phase of the sector in Akwa Ibom through his well crafted and articulated policy thrust in consonance with the dakkada philosophy of his Excellency the Governor. This policy thrust involves efficient work ethic, effective synergy and collaboration, man power training and capacity building, research and development with the future in view.
The Science and Tech helmsman emerging from a core educational background has plunged his entire effort, sacrifice and time into birthing and encouraging research and development of scientific solutions to contemporary societal challenges as well as preparing a soft landing ground for technology incubators and even external investors to thrive in the State. He has sounded the trumpet and called out investors with the message that Akwa Ibom State is ripe for investment and also fought to attract federal attention.
Recently, Hang Zhou MC2 Prudent Company Ltd landed in Akwa Ibom with the aim of establishing a solar facilities production factory which will train and employ the youths, Halliburton a foremost multinational company chose to establish a petroleum training center in the State domiciled at the Ibom E-Library. In addition to this, Dr. Nse Essien on behalf of the State Government in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs conducted the first phase of Digital Marketing Training for over 3000 youths of the State drawn from the 3 senatorial districts.
He also led a delegation of inventors from Akwa Ibom State to a Science, Technology and Innovation expo in Abuja and never came back empty handed. Not forgetting the fact that the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies paid his Ministry a visit and lauded him for his excellent grasp of issues and proactiveness in the present times. As we speak,soon unlimited, fast and reliable internet connectivity will decorate Akwa Ibom State through the Ibom Smart City Project (details coming soon). Dr. Essien being a very open, flexible, development oriented, futuristic and pragmatic man skilled in managing men and resources desires to work with progressive and innovative persons who have a thing or two to bring to the table as far as Science and Technology is concerned.
This man understands and accepts the enormity of the task ahead of him in this very critical sector even with the paucity of funds but he’s no man to complain, murmur or play politics with development. Rather he’s been brainstorming and collaborating to birth innovative ways to wriggle out and stay afloat since he assumed office 5months ago. With Dr. Nse Udo Essien at the helm of affairs backed by a result oriented Permanent Secretary in Mrs. Stella Etukakpan, Akwa Ibom State will be a technology hub for Nigeria and the world in no distant time.
