Igudia Resumes Training with Akwa United After Beach Soccer World Cup

Super Sand Eagles player Godspower Igudia has resumed training with his club Akwa United Football Club after taking part in Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas.

The defender played all three of Super Sand Eagles matches against Italy, Mexico and Iran scoring in all the matches.

Igudia returned to Akwa United’s training camp in Uyo on Wednesday and trained with the rest of the squad.

He was a second half substitute for Akwa United in a friendly on Wednesday evening against Hills FC in which they won 3-0.

The Rock Solid defender is an integral part of Coach Abdu Maikaba’s team, where he played eighteen of the Promise Keepers nineteen matches in the first stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League scoring one goal.

Speaking on his return, Igudia said ” It was a great honour and a big privilege for me to have been part of the Super Sand Eagles team. Despite the fact that we were unable to qualify from our group, we had a wonderful tournament and we also learned from it”.

“I am happy to be back with my team. I appreciate the management, coaches, my team mates and fans of Akwa United for all the support for me while I was away with the national team in Bahamas”.

” Now that we are done with the World Cup, my targets is to give my best to my club and together with my team mates, we will approach the second stanza of the league with renewed vigour while targeting the league title at the end of the season”.

The Promise Keepers will kick start the second stanza of the NPFL with an away fixture against MFM in Lagos next week.
