NELSON EFFIONG'S CONSTITUENTS VOW TO RECLAIM PDP'S MANDATE

…RUE SENATOR’S LACKLUSTER PERFORMANCE 18 MONTHS AFTER

Elders and Stakeholders in Eket Senatorial District have described the sudden defection of Senator Nelson Effiong to the dormant All Progressives Congress,APC as a decoy to shy away from his responsibilities in the district.

In a world media briefing addressed by the Senatorial district leader Chief Nduese Essien, the stakeholders have “vowed to leave no stone unturned in using available constitutional steps to reclaim the PDP senatorial mandate for Akwa Ibom South Senatorial district, stolen through the backdoor.”

They rued the “lackluster representation put up by Senator Nelson Effiong, since his inauguration in June 2015,”describing it as a far cry from the vibrancy the district had previously enjoyed under  John Esin, Victor Akan, Etang Umoyo, Udoma Udoma as well as Senators Eme Ekaette and Helen Esuene.

“Keen observers of the politics of our legislative representations can unarguably testify to the fact that this is the most dismal representation we ever had in the senate.”

They further explained that, “While others pleaded for understanding, asking to allow him time to learn the legislative ropes in the hallowed chamber, came another claim that he had a domestic accident, resulting in him living perfunctorily in various hospitals within and outside the country.”

They maintained that they had been patient with Senator Effiong in the past one and a half years to give him time to recuperate, only to realize that he was merely giving alibis to run away from consequences of his gross incompetence and abysmal representation.

The Eket stakeholders maintained that they had no reason to miss Senator Effiong, saying his “unconscionable political illegality has offered the PDP in Akwa Ibom an ample opportunity to get rid of a nearly two –year old political sour grape in its mouth.”

They concluded that their initial thought was that a former two –term member of the State House of Assembly, and former Speaker was going to put up a good representation for the district, and assured that there are more capable personalities that would be chosen to replace him in the upper legislative chambers.

The elders who jointly fielded questions from newsmen included former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State Lady Valerie Ebe, Deputy Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Felicia Bassey and members of the House of Assembly, serving and former federal Lawmakers, Ambassador Assam Assam and three other members of the G22, among others.
