APOSTOLIC CHURCH DISTRICT MASS CHOIR HONOURS THEIR CHOIRMASTER GENERAL.

By Nsisong 'Roddy' Etukudo

It was an evening of songs rendition, when the Apostolic Church Mbikpong Ikot Edim District Mass Choir visited the residence of their Choirmaster General, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Uko as a mark of honour.

The choristers in their large numbers were adorned in their universal choir uniform and they sang songs of adoration to the Glory of God.

The songs rendered by the choir included, "You're Excellent" and "ayaña owo ke mfon" - these two songs were composed and written by Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Uko, (the Pioneer District Choirmaster), far back year 2000.

Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Uko himself, conducted the choir when he rendered his epic song titled "sosoño" - which was his first song, composed in 1992. The song is still evergreen and it is still being sang in churches, some with different versions but same lyrics. He has many other well composed gospel songs to his credit.

The highpoint of the evening was the presentation of a giant well crafted portrait of Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko by the choir to him.

In his response, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko flanked by his amiable wife, Evangelist (Mrs.) Ememobong Aniekan Uko returned all the glory to God for the honour the choir bestowed on him. He appreciated the choir for their kind gesture and he charged them to be dedicated in their service to God, through their voice.

He promised to support the choir financially to help them facilitate smooth operations. He prayed the Almighty God who raised him from an obscure young choirmaster to the level were he sits and dines with the high and mighty in the society - to also raise them to the highest level of their diverse endeavors.

The choir were entertained with a light refreshment.

An evening to always remember
