...As Workers pass vote of Confidence on Management Board
The staff of Akwa Saving and Loans limited who recently resigned voluntarily over company's inability to meet its financial obligations have reacted following the decision of the management to pay their severance benefits.
Speaking with this reporter, one of the staff that resigned and pleaded anonymous expressed gratitude to management for showing good fate in paying their severance benefits despite the Bank's current situation.
He however complained that the benefits was meager and appealed to management to review upward the severance benefits especially for workers who have put in several years of service to the company.
Hence, staff of the bank has also passed a vote of confidence on the management of the bank led by Mr. Ebong Bassey for his sincerity and doggedness in turning around the fortune of the bank.
In a related development, the management of Akwa Savings and Loans Limited, the Company's domestic labour union and Labour leaders in the state have reached an agreement aimed at improving the severance benefits of the affected staffs.
The meeting which was held today was at the instance of the state controller of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Uyo.
