Akwa Ibomites Hail Gov Emmanuel Receiving Umana …Commend Umana For Rising Above Biases

By Umoh-Obong Kingsley

Prior to the meeting between the Managing Director of Oil And Gas Free Zones Authority, Mr Umanah Okon Umanah and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel at Government House, Uyo on Wednesday, Akwa Ibomites and other Nigerians have commended the development and enjoined other political divides to follow suit.

Everybody is appreciative of the fact that we are beginning to embrace unity even though we don’t belong to the same political party but there is every tendency that we need to look at the Akwa Ibom project which His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, is paramount. We should shun biases, ethnicity, political divides, etc and let build the big picture which is Akwa Ibom State, and that is what Obong Umana Okon Umana has demonstrated.

He has never gone to the radio to insult his former boss, Senator Godswill Akpabio, neither has he ever insulted Governor Udom Emmanuel. If Umana is different, his followers should also be different.

Below comments from those who called on Akwa Ibom Mandate, a programme anchored by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Ambassador Sampson Akpan a.k.a Politics Today.

Iydee Umanah: It is welcome development that Obong Umana Okon Umana came to synergise with the state government.

Jackson: It is a welcome development as it shows that politicians in Akwa Ibom State are beginning to look beyond party lines. As such, they are beginning to show that they have Akwa Ibom and Akwa Ibomites at hand. I want to commend the Governor, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, for receiving Umana. I want to also say a very big thank you to Umana because I know that what he is bringing to Akwa Ibom now is what the state and its indigenes will benefit from not just now, but also years to come.

Emma Solution (Abia State): What Obong Umana Okon Umana did was quite commendable. He has really shown that leadership belongs to God, and no matter what you do, you just one Akwa Ibom. Unlike people of the other political divides who take to the social media to through all sorts of falsehoods against each other, here is Umana, a man who was at the centre stage of the opposition, coming together to meet with the Governor to synergise. He has set an example for other politicians and social media activists to stop throwing stone at each other. Politics has come and gone. This is the time for governance. I implore all Akwa Ibom persons to stop causing divides and creating disunity in the state, come together let’s give Akwa Ibom the best.

Benjamin (Oron): I want to urge other politicians in Abuja to emulate Umana Umana for the development of Akwa Ibom State.

Emmanuel (Abuja): The news about Umana Umana did is something we are celebrating in Abuja. This is a clear indication to other people that are still in other divide, that indeed, coming together to build one state is one thing that cannot throw away. He has just demonstrated a clear intent and a sign that indeed he loves this state. I want to urge other people to also follow suit. They must realise that we don’t have any other state.

Samuel (Uyo): I am very happy for the new development in Akwa Ibom State. I’ve always been saying that let Akwa Ibom be Akwa Ibom in all ramification. I appreciate the Governor for receiving Umana Umana, and I also commend Umana for coming back to liaise with the winner after losing.

Favour: I want to say thank you to my boss, Obong Umana Okon Umana. This is our Jonathan, you know when former President Goodluck Jonathan lost the election, he called Buhari and congratulated him. Now, Umana has come back to his home where he brought up to build a synergy. I was very happy for him because by doing this, he is giving us the way of getting jobs and lots of things will happen in the state with peace and unity. I want to urge the Governor not to lose focus, he should continue to do what he has promised to do because even when Jesus Christ came to the world, it was not everybody that liked him. Let those who are of negative criticism on the government go ahead but they should be away that seat is rotating and one day, it get to their turn.

Martins (Mkpat Enin): I want to join other Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians to commend what has happened between the Governor and Umana Okon Umana in the state. I want to plead that it should continue even after 2019.

Umana’s visit to the state government was not political, but a way of building a formidable team to fight as he cannot fight alone, and Governor Udom Emmanuel is ready to partner with him and make him to succeed in the Oil and Gas Free Zone endeavour. The major problem we are faced with in this part of the country is that we do not cooperate. The cardinal issue is the cooperation and love. We are so divided when comes to the issue of unity. Let us come back home.

Let us wake up to the fact that there can be only one governor in a state, and there is only one Hill Top. Now that there is a Governor, all we need do is to support him. Just like Obong Umana Okon Umana, you cannot have two Managing Director of Oil and Gas Free Zone.
