The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties , Akwa Ibom State, Mr Akan Okon, has advised female corp members from Akwa Ibom State to be good ambassadors of the State, while serving their father land.
He gave the charge today, when the corp members, under the aegis of Akwa Ibom State Female Corp Members Initiative, visited him at his Ewet Housing Estate Residence in Uyo.
The Commissioner took time to highlight some of the giant strides of the State government,to the Corp members and further stated that the current administration in the state, under Governor Udom Emmanuel is working assiduously in the area of youth development and appealed to the female corp members to always pray and work for the success of the Government.
While speaking on some development project of the Government,the Commissioner particularly mentioned the Toothpick ,Pencil Manufacturing Factory and the Akwa Ibom Employment and Enterprise Scheme (AKEES), noting that the state government has also made funds available for Small and Medium Scale Enterprise which according to him, will ensure that Akwa Ibom youth will be gainfully employed.
Mr Okon further urged the corp members to be focused and participate actively in their places of assignment, and advised them to always put God first in all their endeavours.
In his exact words,he "the Government is putting everything in place to ensure your employment,that is why the Toothpick/Pencil Factory is working. The government is ready to help the youth,so put in all your efforts to the success of this Government, I was once like you,but today,I am a Commissioner. The weapon you need is in your hands, put God first in all your doings" he said.
In their separate speeches, the Coordinator of the group, Nnana Veronica Ibanga, Parade Commander, and Enyeketi Lawrence Essien, thanked Mr, Akan Okon for the warm hospitality accorded them, and praised him for the level of professionalism he has so far exhibited since his appointment into Akwa ibom State Exco
The group also thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for his various youth empowerment programmes, and described him as a Youth friendly Governor.
