The wife of Akwa Ibom state Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel says Akwa Ibom people have reasons to celebrate and appreciate God for bringing the state this far, saying the 29th anniversary of the state and the 56th independence anniversary of the country calls for moral and spiritual rebirth.
Mrs. Emmanuel who made the remark today, September 30th , at the monthly women prayer meeting held at the banquet hall ground of the Government house recalled that the state over the years has enjoyed God bountiful blessings irrespective of the challenges faced.
In her words “At 29, Akwa Ibom has come of age, we have witnessed unprecedented growth in different sectors over the years and we have reasons to celebrate.” She added that Nigeria despite the challenges confronting her has survived and still waxing strong by God’s grace, noting that irrespective of the economic hardship, God still has a purpose for the country.
The First Lady reiterated that the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel remains firm on industrializing the state towards economic growth, adding that she will not relent until every Akwa Ibom woman is economic reliant.
Reflecting on the prayer summit, Mrs. Emmanuel pointed out that God has used the prayer meetings to intercede for the state saying “God is answering our prayers; and we have cause to thank and celebrate his goodness.”
The Governor’s wife also used the occasion to call for proper medical checkup by women to ascertain their health status, saying the HIV/AIDS pandemic is still at a very high rate in the country.
Earlier in her brief Exhortation on the Topic: ‘Today is your day’, Pastor Utibeabasi-eno Udoh said God has a purpose for His children, noting that when He wants to bless, He sends a man.
She said Jesus came and fulfilled His purpose for every believer, adding that whoever believes and accepts Him will be transformed.
She said Akwa Ibom state under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel and wife Martha, is destined for greatness, praying that God mercies and grace will continue to envelop them for more successes ahead.
Pastor Udoh called on women to desist from any ungodly act that could take them away from God adding that God is ever ready to receive all who are in need of him.
Special prayers were offered for the administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the state as well as the country in general.
Those in attendance were the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Glory Edet, wife Speaker of the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Mrs. Onofiok Luke, wife of the SSG, Mrs. Gloria Umoren, wife of former deputy governor, Mrs. Atim Okpoyo, wives of Commissioners, female permanent secretaries, Legislators wives, female transition chairmen, wives of permanent secretaries and Mbong Iban.
