… as Governor Udom Emmanuel assures of an enabling environment for technology in the state
Akwa Ibom State Government has promised an enabling environment for Technology Developers & Innovators in the state. The pronouncement was made by the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on ICT, Engineer Solomon Eyo while addressing guests at the first ever Nigeria Incubators and Innovators hosted in Uyo by Start Innovation Hub.

NINE is on a nationwide tour starting from Start Innovation Hub in Uyo, to meet and interact with developers and entrepreneurs in the ecosystem. The essence of this visit was to discuss the various ways to develop the ecosystem and promote local contents.
The CEO of Start Innovation Hub Mr. Hanson Johnson in his opening remark gave a rundown of the event highlight, promising that there will be no coding, just addressing challenges and discussing solutions.

According to the leader of the team Mr. Bankole Toba, who shared inspiring stories from various Start Ups in cities across the country, he said the performance of practitioners in the state is needed to attract the necessary attention of government and private sector investors.
The Governors aide reinstated the interest the current administration has in ensuring that Akwa Ibom youth catch in on the opportunities Information Communication Technology offers, adding that Governor Udom Emmanuel has displayed his good intentions for the sector by sending 1,000 youths for Oracle Database Training.
The Engineer and ICT expert admonished tech heads in the state to continue in their good works, encouraging them to rise to the faith of greatness in line with the Dakkada spirit, setting example with Ime Archibong, an Akwa Ibom son who is the right hand man of Mark Zuckerberg.
He announced his accessibility to all technology gurus with noble ideas, to analyse and access tech oppurtunities in the state, like the citing of the Coconut Refinery, which will require innovations and technical assistance from technology gurus to develop applications needed to run the refinery.
Also present was the Governor’s aide on New Media, Mrs. Meflyn Anwana who reiterated the Governors understanding of the changes in the way human beings communicate all over the world, and the essence of the new media, which is why he has for the first time in the history of the state appointed an aide to oversee that office, and communicate with the citizenry through the medium.

She promised to work hand in hand with Start Ups who are willing to deploy best practices as found in the global community.
The event, which is supported by National Information Technology Agency (NITDA) was held at the 3rd Floor of Ibom e-Library, IBB Avenue.

The gathering had hundreds participants who have technology based businesses as developers, incubators, innovators, bloggers, phoyographers and content marketers; there was opportunity for 3 startups to pitch their products and also have a mentorship session with NINE team.
