*Appoints 3 Aides, drums Support For Gov. Emmanuel
In order to curb the level of unemployment and encourage vocational skills in the society, the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Social Re-orientation; Mr Ekpeno Gold, on Sunday, presented physical cash to members of Udom Abre 31 over 31 organization, registered others for skills acquisition, like hair styling, pedicure/manicure and as well appointed three Personal Aides from the group.
The Governor's aide, who is the Progenitor of 'Udom Abre 31 over 31', AKA 'Akwa Ibom Strength' however, assured that the second phase of the skills acquisition training would focus on vocations which include: welding, carpentry, beads-making, tailoring, weaving, and automobile mechanic.
The event which took place at Decozy Hotels in Uyo, the State's capital, attracted members of the socio-political group from the 31 Local Government Areas of the State.
Mr Gold, a professional hair stylist hinted that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from various federal constituencies in the State, added that, “by God's special grace I will provide seed capital and working tools to those who will complete the training successfully".
In his words: “The present administration in Akwa Ibom State under the able leadership of a pragmatic and selfless leader; His Excellency and my boss; Deacon Udom Emmanuel, is really committed to alleviate poverty and give people better live in the state, hence some of us appointed as his aides are emulating him in giving back to the people.
"For me, my immediate constituency is my group, talking about Akwa Ibom Strength, popularly known as Udom Abre 31 over 31. The fact is that there would not have been me without them and my conscience would not know peace if I choose to neglect them. That is why I am starting with this empowerment programme, life touching programmes, skills acquisition and of course, appointing few of them to assist me in the onerous task of preaching the gospel of my boss the governor throughout the 31 Local Government Areas".
While reiterating the commitment of Governor Emmanuel's administration to make life comfortable for the citizenry, Mr Ekpeno Gold assured that his office would continue with such efforts that would reduce poverty among people by embarking on programmes capable of adding values to the socio-economic well-being of the populace in other to assist the governor.
On his achievements so far in office as Special Assistant on Social Re-orientation, Mr Gold, said: "By God's special grace I have organised various summits and conferences to impact knowledge on citizens, like the one we called Young Entrepreneurs Success Stories (YESS 2.0), I've spoken at a-one day heroes conference, tagged:' understanding purpose and reinforcing the right image', I've done environmental sanitation awareness campaign for Akwa Ibom people to keep their environment clean and green, there's what my office tagged 'the right mindset initiative', and of course, there's this one we call 'Refresh Project' Akwa Ibom Re-orientation Campaign. This particular project will take us to churches, secondary and tertiary institutions in all the local government areas in the State and we are not getting tired".
The Governor's aide who highlighted effects of the current economic recession, advised citizens to stop spending on frivolities.
He however, called on all and sundry to "believe in and support the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel because it is the best government God has given us at this point in time".
