Mark Esset  ha called on his colleagues and the state government to immortalize the name of the former governor of the state, Obong Victor Attah by naming the Ibom International Airport after him.

Hon. Mark Esset made is opinion known last Tuesday 22nd September, 2016 during plenary session.

Hon. Mark while Thanking member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Information, Rt. Barr. Ime Okon for the timely message of celebrating Akwa Ibom at 29,  said   Obong Victor Attah  came and fought for the resource control and he was the one that initiated the airport project as such  he deserves to be immortalized while still alive because of his enormous contributions and selfless service to the state.

"Hear him : "my dear colleagues let us put sentiments aside if you go to The state Secretariat it is called" Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat "So as a House, we should deemed it necessary one day to immortalize Attah  because of his quality leadership. He fight for resource control and abrogation of the offshore/onshore oil dichotomy which proceeds the state is enjoying today."

Reasoning that if Atiku Abubakar Road in Uyo was named after the former Vice president ATIKU Abubakar, and Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, after Former Governor Akpabio,  the State government should name Ibom Airport after Attah as a mark of respect and appreciation to the former governor.

It is worthy to note that no single edifice in the state has been name
after Obong Attah by his successors. Even the Victor Attah Digital Centre (VADOC) ate the state ministry of Science and Technology m Uyo during Attah tenure was changed by his successor, Chief Godswill Akpabio.

Akwa Ibom International Air Port The first phase of the construction  began in2006 and was completed in 2009 and was opened on September 23, 2009 (Akwa Ibom Day)
