Worried by the deplorable state of some internal road networks within the state capital, the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has directed the Commissioner for Works to, as a matter of urgency, commence the repair of streets and thoroughfares within the metropolis. The House gave the directive in a resolution passed during Thursday plenary.
This is sequel to a motion brought to the House by the member representing Uyo State Constituency, Hon. Monday Eyo who complained of deplorable state of internal roads in Uyo. He listed some of the internal roads to include, Ntiedo, Udo obot, William street, Nsasak, Akpaube, Udo-Eduok, Eka, Nsentip, Nung Atte, among several others, and prayed the House to compel the Works Ministry to immediately salvage the situation.
House members were unanimous in their resolution, noting that the bad portions of the roads were not speaking well of the state capital hence there was need for prompt attention to be accorded the affected areas.
