The Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare Akwa Ibom State, Dr Glory Emmanuel Edet has advocated the need for all to rise to the task of protecting the girl child from violence, child marriage, male dominance, trafficking, exclusion, blackmail, harmful cultural practices, and other forms of abuse.
''To realize a brighter n hopeful future for our girl children, all hands must be on desks. Parents, Guardians, Clergies, Teachers, Lawmakers, Royal Fathers, Civil Organizations, and the larger society must wake up to their responsibilities.
Parents should remember that every child is a blessing from God irrespective of gender.
Do not provoke your children to anger but bring them up in a proper n Godly way.
Do not expose your girl children to men
Do not give your girl child in marriage because the Child 'd right law is against it.
