By Atuekong Paul Bassey| It was an encomium of appreciations for Governor Udom Emmanuel yesterday during an inaugural meeting of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Leaders across the entire 31 local government areas of the State.
The meeting was convened in Uyo at the instance of the State Youth Leader, Hon. Enobong Harry to interact with the newly elected Youth leaders of the Party for gathering effective feedback from the grassroots.
Hon. Harry, in his opening remarks, said “PDP has come to stay as a religion and I’m so happy that 98% of our local government Youth Leaders stay in the villages making it easy for us to take power back to the grassroot. Therefore it was necessary for us to meet and know ourselves as one big family”.
“This meeting was also for us to strategize on how we can recover those lost units or wards which we didn’t win at during the last general elections and also setup a reconciliation avenue to address any grievances among our youths”.
He charged them to know that as youth leaders, they are not inferior to anybody but they have shown absolute commitment towards the development of the Party which, in essence, translates to their unalloyed support for the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel even beyond 2019.
Responding, the youth leaders commended the Governor for ensuring the timely payment of salaries of the Workers both at the state level and the local government employees.
They also requested that more youths of the state should be empowered in addition to ongoing programmes of the state government towards youths and women development.
Highlight of the meeting was a unanimous vote of confidence on Governor Udom Emmanuel and a public declaration of support for him to complete eight years tenure.
