CNPP DISOWNS JOE ITIABA...He forged our signatures -Members

Members of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) have condemned in strong terms the antics of the state chairman of the Accord Party, Mr. Joe Itiaba, who has been courting controversy by waging scathing attack on the Special Assistant to the governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Comrade Lawrence Udoh.

The said Itiaba has been in the news for accusing the governor's aide of siphoning funds allegedly released by Governor Emmanuel to party chairmen during the period of the expected governorship rerun in the state.

In a communique signed by eighteen party chairmen issued at the end of the group's general meeting in Uyo, Itiaba's action was labeled as a product of bitterness, gross envy and an indirect insult and confrontation to the Governor and government of the day.

They described as laughable claims by Itiaba and his few loyalists that a vote-of-no-confidence was passed on the SA, and challenged him to "publish the names, parties and signatures of those he masterminded to sign the purported vote-of-no-confidence."

Reacting to claims by some members that their signatures were forged, CNPP advised "any party chairman who feels his/her signature was forged as claimed by Joe Itiaba to take legal action."
While warning Itiaba to henceforth desist from speaking on behalf of political parties, the communique reminded him that "the only legally constituted bodies that are permitted to speak on behalf of political parties are IPAC and CNPP whether at the State or Federal level...."

The forum further passed a vote-of-confidence on the Governor Udom Emmanuel; Chairman, Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Obong Paul Ekpo and the governor's aide, Mr. Lawrence Udoh.
