...hire thugs
Plot by the Chairman of the Accord Party in Akwa Ibom State, Joe Itiaba and his loyalists to destabilize peace in the state has been uncovered.
This is coming on the heels of their failed attempt to sow seed of discord in the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Congress of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP).
Our checks revealed that the said Itiaba and a certain Godwin Umanah of the National Conscience Party (NCP) have, since the inauguration of CNPP, been acting contrary to the constitution of the group.
Their ill manners assumed a saddening dimension when they accused the Special Assistant to the governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Comrade Lawrence Udoh, of siphoning funds.
Addressing journalists in Uyo, the said Itiaba announced a passage of vote-of-no-confidence on the SA.
When these reporters contacted the CNPP Chairman, Engr. William Ikpe and other exco members of the group they urged members of the public to dismiss such allegation, adding that it is a calculated attempt to blackmail the CNPP and the governor's aide.
While challenging Itiaba and his cohorts to produce concrete evidence, they declared that Governor Emmanuel has never released funds to the group via the SA.
Presently, Itiaba has finalised plans to cause mayhem under the guise of a protest just to gain the attention of the governor.
Our sources revealed that thugs have been hired for the purpose.
A SMS text disseminated by the NCP Chairman, Godwin Umanah, backed up our investigation.
It reads: "IF D PRESS CONFERENCE PUBLICATIONS ON 16 NAT'L & LOCAL PAPERS & D LETTER SENT TO OUR DEAR GOVERNOR FOR REMOVAL OF LAWRENCE UDO BY 22 POL. PARTIES PROVES ABORTIVE WITHIN 14DAYS, READY AS WE EMBARK ON A PROTEST 4 HIS REMOVAL. FM UMANA G. fss, mni"
The PRO of the Akwa Ibom Police Command, Cordelia Nwawe told these reporters that the command has not been notified on the planned protest.
She warned those behind it to sheath swords as the police will not hesitate to clampdown on anyone found culpable.
The State Security Service (SSS) could not be reached at the time of filing this report.
