Unknown gunmen suspected to be hired assassins have killed Dr. Ivy Umana at her residence in Shelter Afrique Housing Estate, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The 44-years old Dr. Umana until her death was the Head, Department Pathology, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH).
The circumstances surrounding her death was still sketchy at the time of filing this report but several family sources said she was killed by unknown gunmen in her home.
One of the sources said the late Umana was living alone in her Shelter Afrique residence before the incident occurred.
The source said: “She was living alone in her Shelter Afrique residence before her murder. We just heard that gunmen came to her house and killed her.”
When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, confirmed the death of the pathologist.

Nwawe said two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder.
