Following the final burial of the adverse contentions to the governorship of Akwa Ibom State, the main villain in the counter plot, Mr Umana Umana has shifted his binoculars on the federal executive council, where he hopes to dethrone the Minister representing the State in the Federal Executive Council.
Having dawned on Umana that the Hiltop Mansion in Uyo is a mirage, he has resorted to attacking the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udoma, accusing him of incompetence and blaming him for the scandal rocking the 2016 national budget.
Most of Umana’s media hirelings, acting under their principal’s directive, have resorted to newspaper and social media attacks on Senator Udoma, calling him a misfit and an embarrassment to the presidency.
Some of the APC appendages in the APC media circle have even gone as far as suggesting that a renowned economist and a renowned public servant would best fit into the role of Minister of National Planning instead of a mere lawyer.
Umana’s media destroyers are also accusing Senator Udoma of not being an APC active member, and are alleging that Umana who is an APC member can do better in the Buhari government.
However, some pundits who argued on the issue in the social media expressed dismay over the incessant strategy of pulling other people down for selfish gains by politicians and urged Mr Umana Umana to call his boys to order.
Not willing to put all his eggs in one basket, Umana has also sought to be considered for the position of Managing Director of the NDDC, currently being occupied in acting capacity by Mrs Ibim Semenatari of Rivers State.
This has not augured well for his allies whose support he got only on the condition of landing them the NDDC plum job. Some of them have completely lost faith in Umana’s aimless ambition, and have vowed not to allow him use them to attain prominence and selfish goals.
Meanwhile, the adage that failure is an orphan, appears to have hit the APC former governorship candidate like a tornado. Most of his right hand men who were hitherto always seen in his company in Abuja and Lagos have since deserted him and are finding their way to curry favour from Governor Udom Emmanuel and the PDP.
Most PDP stakeholders are said to be putting pressure on the PDP leadership and the State governor, insisting that the prodigal sons should not be allowed back into the fold because their ambitions are only guided by sheer greed and stomach politics.
