Inline with the Dakkada Philosophy of the present administration in Akwa Ibom State, the Ekid People Progressive League will tomorrow organize its First Ekid Economic and Enterprise Summit.
Addressing journalists at the weekend, the chairman of the League, Rev. Daniel Akwatang disclosed that the main essence of the summit taking place at Eden Hotel, Eket is to promote economic empowerment of Eket people and Akwa Ibom State in general.
"We aim to use the summit to draw the attention of average Ekid son and daughter in particular and all Akwa Ibomites in general to the vast opportunities in Agribusiness" He noted.
Speaking further, Rev. Akwatang hinted that the socio-economic organization have decided to take the bold step to enlighten the people of the state and to use the summit as a platform to encourage them to pursue agricultural industrialization and to support the food sufficiency focus of the Udom led administration in the state.
Akwatang who was flanked by the chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Sam Edoho and other members of the League including Elder Nse Atang and Mr. Ubong David also hinted that the summit which has "Industrialization: Existing and Emerging Opportunities in Agribusiness in Akwa Ibom State" will have Prof. Funsho Sonaiya, and Agribusiness expert and Co-Chair of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Projects for Asia, Americas and Africa as the Lead Speaker while Gov. Udom Emmanuel is expected as the special guest.
The Chairman of Ekid People Progressive League (EPPL) further expressed optimism that the enlightenment session of the summit will be the first step of their desire to develop Agricultural entrepreneurs in the state and to send the right message to the citizens of Akwa Ibom State on the determination of Udom Emmanuel led administration to industrialise the state and make it truly food sufficient.
"The summit will further present Agriculture as a very serious and sustainable business" he concluded.
While fielding questions from journalists, the chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Sam Edoho maintained that the Agribusiness is not going to be like the usual talk shop like we have witnessed in the past with little or no follow up but that the EPPL shall be looking at the entire Agricultural value chain by acquiring a massive land to commence large scale agricultural farm and enterprise.
