On Saturday,July 1, 2017, stakeholders, elders, political office holders, state, chapter and ward officers of the PDP gathered at the instance of Rt. Hon. Chief Nduese Essien, and deliberated on issues of urgent importance in the area.
Following assessment of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s performance and vital information on more plans for the area, it was generally agreed by the forum that Governor Emmanuel had done well and has favoured Eket in the areas of political and infrastructural development.
Subsequently, a motioned moved by Chief Uduak Eshiet, Atta of Eket, and seconded by Hon David Lawrence, member Akwa ibom house of Assembly passed a vote of confidence and adopted Governor Emmanuel for a seond term in office.
In the same vein, the meeting also passed a vote of confidence on Rt. Hon. Nduese Essien to continue leading as the political leader of Eket considering his track record in transparency and accountability.
Goodwill messages were received from the state PDP chairman, represented by Hon. Mfon Nkanteen, Eket Senatorial Chairman of PDP, Barr Akpadia Ebitu, state treasurer of PDP, chapter chairman Obongiwaad Emmanuel Mbong, chairman of Eket local government, Hon Frank Archibong, and other chieftains of the party, Rt Hon. Barr. Jack Udota, two former members of G22,Dr Samuel Udonsak and Hon Ita Umoh Udo, Prof Etie Ben Akpan, Gen Anthony Etukudo, Prof Etuk Nssien and Obonganwan Mandu Nsima Abia, who spoke for women.
Others whomattended the meeting included Pastor Ken Akwaowo, SSA to the Governor, Mr Sam Edoho, SSA on Brand Management and Marketing, Mr Paul Bassey, SSA to the Gov on sports and Chairman of Akwa United Fc, Hon Ayang Ayang, Director in the Ibom Power Company, Elder Nse Atang, Commissioner in the Board of Internal Revenue, Mr Essien Nduese Essien,SA to the Gov on Projects Monitoring, Rev Daniel Akwatang,SA on Religious Affairs to the Gov, Johnny Udia, SA to the Gov on Projects, Chief Christopher Hanson Isong, among others.
