The Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Social Reorientation, Mr Ekpeno Gold, has called for continuous Maintenance of the Ibibio Union Museum, even after the ongoing Arts Exhibition.
Mr Gold made the call when he made a stopover at the ongoing Usoro Uso, at the Ibibio Union Museum, Unity Park Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
While admiring the Art Works, the Governor’s Aide commended the Ministry of Culture and Tourism under the headship of Rt. Hon. Victor Antai, for their insight in reopening the Museum, which he maintained is a destination place in Akwa Ibom State.
He said the Arts Exhibition will help showcase the rich tourism potentials in the state, while encouraging creativity among local and international artists.
Mr Gold who expressed satisfaction over the ongoing exhibition, lauded Governor Emmanuel for his interest in reviving tourism in a State, and called on other bodies and public spirited individuals, to partner with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to ensure proper maintenance of the museum.
Recently, The State Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party, Akwa Ibom; Comrade Ini Ememobong has said that the newly furnished Ibibio Union Museum with Art works will serve as a place to preserve unadulterated History in the state because the Oral Tradition of preserving history in Africa is ineffective and inefficient due to either deliberate inclusion or removal of a point of history. He stated this when he visited the museum yesterday.
Comrade Ememobong who was welcomed by the Hon Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Hon Victor Antai accompanied by other Aides to the Governor on Tourism; Hon Sandy, Miss Ini Edo likewise Kemen, Thin Tall Tony and Uriel of Big Brother Naija, got extremely thrilled by the various beautiful art works in the museum. Also, he was so touched by the overwhelming idea behind the diverse historical representations in the art works.
In his comment on the guest register, Ini Ememobong stated that “the Innovative Exhibition that Hon. Victor Antai has brought to bear has a great capacity to transport the guest from the present day harsh reality of economic want and depression to an illusive world of bliss and content.
