UKANAFUN: GOV EMMANUEL NEVER GRANTED AMNESTY TO CULTISTS

Governor Udom Emmanuel has never contemplated granting amnesty to cultists, hooligans and criminals under any aegis and has maintained his posture to ensure a crime-free Akwa Ibom attractive to investors.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ekerete Udoh, in a telephone interview with our reporter, dismissed as false, the erroneous impression on a section of the media following a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Chukwu Ikechukwu, on the arraignment of the suspected killers of the late secretary of Ukanafun Local Government, Obong Ime Willie Atakpa.

“I have just spoken with the Commissioner of Police and he admitted that Governor Emmanuel has zero tolerance for cultism and has never contemplated granting amnesty to cultists or perpetrators of any heinous crime in the state.”

Mr Udoh however advised members of the public to disregard the spin story which alleged claims by suspected killers currently facing trial in a court of competent jurisdiction, and has nothing to do with Governor Emmanuel who has stamped his feet to weed the state of all criminal tendencies.

The late Obong Ime Willie Atakpa a.k.a Strong and his political associate, Akaninyene Udo Aka, were shot dead by hired assassins on 16th April, 2017, Easter Sunday, at about 9:30am at his poultry farm in his village, Ikot Udo-Obobo Ukanafun LGA
