Udom Seeks Assembly’s Request for Clearance of Chief Judge

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has received a request from Governor Udom Emmanuel, seeking the approval of the lawmakers for the clearance and confirmation of the appointment of the Acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Godwin Abraham as full fledged Chief Judge.

In a message titled, ‘Clearance for appointment’, addressed to the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly which was read on the floor of the House during Tuesday plenary by the Clerk, Mrs. Mandu Umoren, the Governor requested the House of Assembly to clear the nominee to enable him assume full capacity of the office of Chief Judge of the state.
The message was formally received by the House following a motion moved by the Deputy Speaker, and member representing Okobo, Hon. Felicia Bassey and seconded by the member representing Abak, Rt. Hon. Friday Iwok.

Reacting, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, referred the matter to the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, and Public Petitions for screening of the nominee.

He directed the committee to report back to the House on Thursday  which is the next sitting day.
