RAMADAN: CLERIC HARPS ON NIGERIA’S UNITY #EidMubarak

The Chief Imam of Akwa Ibom State, Imam Mohammed Adamu, has revealed that Muslims in the state used the Ramadan period to pray for peace and unity of Nigeria.

The cleric, who made the disclosure in a chat with journalists at the Central Mosque, Mbak Itam, said Nigeria needs love and care from her citizens, not divisive tendencies.

“This country needs our love and care. We have to be patriotic. During the Ramadan which has just ended, we prayed for the unity of this country. This is the only country we have. There is no need to add to the hardship and difficulties in the land with unnecessary agitation for separation,’’ he said.

The cleric said Ramadan is a period Muslims and mankind should draw closer to Almighty Allah for forgiveness and blessings.

Checks by this reporter reveal that Ramadan is observed during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. The fasting which is one of the five pillars of Islam is compulsory for all
Muslims, except the sick, travelers, pregnant or nursing women and the aged.
