The Honourable Member Representing Mbo State Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon Samuel Ufuo has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to encourage the rural voters to participate in the electoral process by making registration centre available in all the wards. “From my village to the Local Government Headquarters is 20km. The provision of Voter’s registration is very tedious as the villagers cannot even have access to motorcycles to the headquarters to register since the road is not even helping issues.”
My constituents are predominantly fishermen in the creeks. Like Efiat Community, you have to cross the river using boat before you get to the Headquarters to register. So unfortunate one can get there and the staff on duty will tell you there is no light or generating set to provide power for the machine. You can imagine the frustration.
INEC should provide one registration centre in each of the wards to make the process easy for my people. I cannot be happy when my people are suffering. The rural people need the Voter’s Card more than any other people. INEC is not helping us enough.
