Investigation has revealed that, the Senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Senator Nelson Effiong is allegedly enmeshed in dirty dealings of bribing officials of Uyo Capital City Development Agency UCCDA to demolish his neighbour’s fence to forcefully get right of way.
In a news report on 13th January, 2017 it was reported that Nelson Effiong diverted 1.2billion constituency fund to buy choice houses in Uyo.
Part of the report reads : “Senator, representing Eket Senatorial district diverted 1.2 billion Naira, meant for the district, without nominating any project for 2016,Our eagle eyed Reporters, has uncovered the multi billion Naira properties belonging to the Senator in Uyo. Our findings shows that, the properties, which includes a multi billion Naira duplex, is located at Dove international school road, Osongama Estate in Uyo, also, a newly acquired land at 45 Osongama road, also in the state capital.”
Recollect that the Senator is known for forcefully taking neighbors property, allegedly bribing staff of UCCDA to assist him take part of Mr John Akwa ‘s land at 45 osongama estate road beside where he acquired a new land as reported.
He was also accused of forcefully taking his neighbours land, beside where his night club is situated, and had threatened that, he is a senator and nothing could be done to him,
We gathered from sources, that the Senator allegedly sent one of his cronies to deliver 2 million naira to Mr Columbus and Mr Kufre of UCCDA besides Kalahari Club Obio Imo, a sitout owned by the embattled Senator.
Sitippe.com had reported in August 2016 that Senator Nelson through a Barrister secretly wanted to buy the said piece of land, but when Mr Akwa refused to sell, he resorted to using thugs and some staff of UCCDA against the tenants of Mr Akwa.
The same “job men” in UCCDA had on 29th August 2016, demolished shops and kiosk owned by Mr Akwa, destroyed fabrication equipments of Akparawa Alex Metal Company a tenant of John Akwa.
Following the appointment of Mr Enobong Uwah as Chairman of UCCDA on the 31st of May 2017, the duo of Mr Columbus and Kufre in UCCDA rushed to retire their bribe from Senator Nelson Effiong by demolishing structures owned by John Akwa, a neighbor of the Senator to pave way for forceful acquisition of land by the Senator.
Investigation reveals that, UCCDA never gave approval for the demolition as Head of Demolition denied such approval. The victim, John Akwa was advised to sue UCCDA by authorities in UCCDA this they said, will expose the dirty deals of Columbus and Kufre.
Speaking with Kufre, he said, “I cannot talk with you, call the secretary of the agency”, the Secretary could not be reached and a text message sent to Nelson Effiong, on his mobile phone, 08023572*** was not responded to, as at the time of this report.
