By Our Reporter : The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), the umbrella of registered political parties in Nigeria as at Wednesday 21st September, 2016 conducted elections into seven positions of the body which saw Mr Martins Inyang of Democratic Peoples Party DPP as the new state chairman. Mr Martins Inyang will stir the affairs of the state chapter of IPAC for the next one year.
Before commencing the elections proper, the chairman of the Election committee, Chief Owodike called for the dissolution of the former exco which Rev Aniebiet Emmanuel of PRP moved the motion for the dissolution of the former exco seconded by Dr Effiong Ita Awak of PPN. Thereafter the accredited members of the group start voting for candidates of their choice in each of the position.
Chief Owodike, the National Publicity Secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), who also double as the committee chairman of the elections made his commendation soon after conducting the elections held at the Akwa Ibom State INEC Secretariat, Udo Udoma Avenue.
Mr Owodike who commended the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of IPAC members over the orderly and democratic conduct of the elections of the new state exco into various positions. “IPAC is not an opposition political party, it is not a platform of political party use to win elections, we should not see IPAC as NGO set up to entrench democracy, it is use to deepen democracy, work hand in hand with INEC electoral umpire. If you don’t win election, it is not the end of life”, he admonished.
Earlier, Obong Paul Ekpo, the state chairman of PDP asked the party state chairmen to ensure that they work together to ensure uniformity in elections, it is not to engage in fight of which party is at the centre but working harmoniously in the interest of the country. He said the orderly manner at which the elections were conducted gives desire hope for the grater development of our nation’s democracy.

Responding, the new state chairman of IPAC Mr Martins Inyang after the elections who response on behalf of the executives said they appreciates all the support they enjoyed from Akwa Ibom State governor Mr Udom Emmanuel. “we appreciate all the state party chairman of PDP, the SA to governor on Political Affairs, Rt Hon Anietie Etuk, SA to governor on Inter Party Affairs, Mr Lawerance Udoh, the INEC, security men and the media, to my executive members, I promise to serve you faithfully to the strength of my ability, thank you” he said.
