NIGERIANS WANT TO SEE TANGIBLE DIVIDENDS FROM BUHARI – UDOM’S MEDIA AIDE

A Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Media, Mr Essien Ndueso has said that the Nigerian populace is still looking forward to seeing tangible dividends of democracy hallmarked by infrastructural development and economic renaissance under the current federal government.

He noted that the average Nigerians are the ones worse hit by the current economic downturn in the country, stating that the time to blame the past PDP government for the economic woes of the nation is over.

Ndueso who spoke on a weekend radio breakfast show on Inspiration FM in Uyo, advised the federal government to desist from endless name-calling, blame game and witch hunting in the name of anti-corruption, and make efforts towards cushioning the effect of recession in the country.

“Eventhough we in this part of the country belong to the Peoples Democratic Party, we are very supportive of the success of the Buhari-led federal government, since its failure will further bring untold hardship and pains to us as Nigerians,” he said.

The media aide expressed the commitment of Governor Emmanuel towards providing the dividends of democracy to the good people of Akwa Ibom in the area of infrastructural renaissance, industrialization particularly driven by agriculture, and development of the maritime sector to stimulate the economy of the state.

He added that the governor believes that government is a continuum, which is why it is consolidating on the projects and programmes, commenced during the past government in the state, to drive sustainable development.

According to him,“When Chief Godswill Akpabio assumed office, he went ahead to execute the airport project conceived by his predecessor Obong Victor Attah and when Governor Udom Emmanuel took over he went on the bring life into the Hatchery project in Mbiaya Uruan which is now churning out poultry products to farmers,” maintaining that the state is always blessed with leaders who think more about the people than on self glory.

Ndueso hinted that the state government is driving the state’s economy through public private partnership, adding that getting the myriads of industries to commence in the state takes a process and won’t just occur like magic overnight.

He asked the Akwa Ibom people to desist from untoward criticisms of the state governor, as all the things he promised are achievable, adding that though it may take some time to accomplish, Akwa Ibom should continue to encourage the government to succeed.

“What is needed right now is peace and then the cooperation of all members of the society and once this is in place all these industries will be up and doing and our youths will no longer be on the streets. Because we don’t want an era where people sit down and wait for politicians to come back at the end of the day and throw some bags of rice as dividends of democracy.

“Dividends of democracy should actually be those things that you can actually lay claims to as your own investments that can bring out food for yourself and the society” he said.
