Brutality and murder by Police in the United States was part of the news trends in the past week. In Nigeria, many have their fair share of experiences with the men of The Nigerian Police Force and most times it’s a sad and even agonising one. This cuts across anyone, be it young, old, a citizen with great social standing or celebrity.
On his Facebook page, a top Akwa Ibom comedian, Sir James shared his own experience of harassment. See the of his smashed windscreen and read his ordeal below.
Truth is I may be stubborn but certainly, am a law abiding gentleman in all ramification.A member of QRS stationed at UNIUYO permanent site gate smashed my car windscreen using a stretched stick around 2am this morning, instead of finding ways so we can reach a peaceful agreement bragged, “YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING, CALL ANYONE YOU WISH TO & NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. NA WE GET POLICE FORCE.I smiled at his statement, apparently he never knew the officer I intended to call for complains.By 2am, after my phone call, we arrived Ikot Akpan Abia only for him to be welcomed with a guardroom detention order from police PRO till day break.That moment, he immediately agreed to replace the broken windscreen with a new one believing the situation will change but it was too late. He was disarmed & detained.By 2pm, we met with the Commissioner of Police, CP as fondly called by members of the police force ordered him to replace every item he destroyed in my car before 7am tomorrow (Tuesday) else face severe disciplinary actions.My joy is that Ubong Ukutt wasn’t injured.That was how he spent #23,000 to fix all that his cancer worm had destroyed in the car….
