Today is my 27th birthday. That I am alive is only by the grace of God.
Exactly one month ago, 23rd February, I escaped death from the hands of armed robbers, who attacked me in my residence and carted away my valuables.
As if that was not enough, on 12th March, less than two months after the first incident, the gunmen, again came back, same day, Saturday, same time, 2am, same modus operandi and went away with my property.
It would have been "Gone too soon. Harrison Essien, aged 26", but God did not allow it happen.
Therefore, this is the reason, am devoting today to praise Jehovah, who, though allowed the robbers to took away my belongings, did not permit them to touch my life.
On the day of my birthday, I thank my father and mentor, late Deacon James Okodi Essien and the woman of my life, my mother, Mrs Mama Essien for the foundation they laid for me, which is helping me spiritually, morally, academically, financially, and socially.
I would not forget my beloved siblings, my one and only brother, Nse, my beautiful ones, Commy, Emmy and my twinny, Uddy for always petting and praying for their last born.
I equally stand up for my teachers, who moulded my character and instilled in me knowledge and skills for self reliant.
I express my profound gratitude to my State government for finding me fit, out of millions of other qualified indigenes, to give the platform, Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, to showcase my talents and contribute to the development of my fatherland. And I promise not to betray the confidence and trust.
Finally, to you, my good friends. Many thanks for always being there for me.
Forward ever, backward never.
