Inconclusive APC Government/Inconclusive APC Party Primary

Hell was almost let loose monday at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja when the supporters of key aspirants of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election, Adamu Candido and Mrs. Pam Amanda engaged themselves in a physical combat over the result of the primary election.
The primary election of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was conducted in December 16.
The secretariat had witnessed a similar protest last year when cars were vandalised by the supporters of the Kogi State governor-elect, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the deputy governor-elect, Hon. Abiodun Faleke. Bello and Faleke were at the national secretariat.
Yesterday’s protest at the APC national secretariat saw the supporters using all kinds of arms and charms against each other and the supporters of Candido assaulted the former chairman of the City Centre, who is supporter of Amanda, Otunba Nathan Ene.
Their protest was as a result of the council’s chairmanship primary election that was conducted on December 16, which produced Candido as the candidate of the APC.
Similarly, the supporters of Amanda had protested against the primaries over the disqualification of their candidate from contesting the primaries.
The two other aspirants that were also disqualified from contesting the council chairmanship primaries were Halidu Adamu and Shekerua Bawa.
Both the national secretariat and the state secretariat of the party have not been able to give a reason why they were disqualified from contesting the primaries.
Ten ward chairmen out of the 12 ward chairmen in the Area Council had sent petition to the national secretariat after the allege primaries, calling for the cancellation of the primaries and the result.
According to them, the primaries were organised to favour Candido against other aspirants, therefore did not reflect the wishes of the delegates and party members in the Area Council.
When the APC National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni, was contacted to speak on the petition, he said the national officers and the state executive of the party were working to resolve the crisis.
He said: “The FCT chapter and the headquarters are working to resolve the problem amicably.”
But for over two weeks, the national secretariat had not been able to wade into the crisis, as on daily basis members are besieging the national secretariat for solution.
After hours of protest and fight, the national secretariat had to send for more security men to disperse the protesters.
