The Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced the payment of compensation to affected persons on the Etinan-Ndon Eyo.
Flagging off the payment exercise at four centres across the marked areas, the commissioner for works, Akwa Ibom state, Mr Ephraim Akparawa Inyang said Governor Udom Emmanuel remains very passionate about infrastructure development and expansion.
Inyang said the road project will open up the area to greater economic opportunities and as well boost the tourism potentials in the zone.
The works commissioner appreciated the efforts of the royal fathers and chiefs for their kind assistance in making the project move faster towards execution.
He appealed to the people to give the contractors maximum cooperation throughout the duration of the road project.
He said that persons who erected new structures after the evaluation had been done will not be paid a dime as such person intend to deliberately delay government from fulfilling its promise to the people.
Speaking to newsmen, Eteidung J J Nsek praised Governor Udom Emmanuel for his commitment to development and his zeal to open up the state, especially Etinan LGA to greater opportunities.
He assured of the community's full cooperation with the contractors.
