The Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Obong Umana Okon Umana has reportedly paid the sum of 100 million naira to select staff of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to access and destroy sensitive documents. Umana was sighted at the Assembly premises in the early hours of Wednesday at about 5.45am. Eye witnesses said he was seen with a man recognized as a clerical staff of the Assembly.
Umana was clad in a blue jean trouser and a blue and white mixed colored T-shirt. He also wore a navy blue fez cap. The deal with the assembly staff was for the latter to comb the offices and take out documents related to the House of Assembly committee findings on the Ibom Science Park and the Ibom International Airport which indicted Engr Frank Okon and Ime Ekanem respectively The arrangement however met a brick wall when a senior staff of the assembly was given a tip off by local security men at the Assembly.
The deputy director who arrived his office earlier than usual and accosted the junior Staff who wanted to help Umana in the destruction of the documents. Our sources revealed that when the deputy director tried to create a scene, Umana out of desperation offered him a whooping 100 million naira bribe which he promised to pay after the staffers produced the documents. Recently, the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel On Research and Documentation, Mr Emmanuel Nicholas gave shocking revelations on Umana’s sharp practices during the period he served as Commissioner for Finance and Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government
