English Premier League club West Ham United have announced that they have entered into an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of former Manchester United striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.

West Ham made the announcement on their website on Thursday.

“West Ham United and Bayer Leverkusen have agreed terms for the transfer of Javier Hernandez to London Stadium,” a statement on the Hammers website reads.

“The former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker will fly to London in the coming days to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical with the Hammers.

“Hernandez, 29, affectionately known as ‘Chicharito’ across the globe, became Mexico’s all-time leading goalscorer in May this year.”

Hernandez will become West Ham’s third signing after the acquisition of Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart both from Manchester City.

While at Manchester United, Hernandez scored 59 goals during a four-year spell at Old Trafford.

In 2014, he was loaned to Real Madrid before signing for Leverkusen a year later.
