By James Agberebi:
Former Manchester United great and current manager of English Championship club Reading, Jaap Stam, is planning a swoop on Nigeria and Fulham forward Sone Aluko.
Aluko, 28, only joined Fulham last summer on a free transfer from Hull City and impressed in his debut season at Craven Cottage scoring eight goals in 47 league appearances.
But according to HITC Sport, Reading have so far been frustrated in their attempt to bring in a new forward with Pelle Clement the only player signed ahead of the new season.
Reading are now hoping to lure Aluko away from their promotion race rivals as Stam looks to bolster his attacking options at the Madejski Stadium.
Aluko who was a member of the Flying Eagles squad to the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt, is entering the final year of his contract at Fulham.
He was introduced in the second half in Hull City’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal in the final of the 2014 FA Cup.
