Odah, Olatunbosun: Benin Republic Can’t Stop Eagles From CHAN

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Home-based Super Eagles stars Okiemute Odah and Sikiru Olatunbosun are hopeful that Benin Republic will not pose problems for Nigeria in August in the second round of qualifiers for the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), Completesportsnigeria. com reports.

Benin Republic defeated Togo 7-6 on penalties on Sunday after their first round tie ended 2-2 on aggregate.

“I want to play in my second CHAN tournament in 2018 after the experience of 2016,” Lobi Stars goalkeeper Odah told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“For the qualifying matches,  I may or may not be in goal,  that is not paramount now, qualification to the main tournament is what matters.”

Mountain of Fire and Miracles FC forward Olatunbosun said: “My expectations are that we will qualify for the tournament and win it.

“This will be my first CHAN matches and Benin will not stop my dream of playing at the tournament.

“I was in the Super Eagles side that played against Togo in France in a friendly in June so I’m not bothered about Benin.

“I just want to contribute to our victory.”

The Eagles were third place finishers at the 2014 CHAN tournament in South Africa but were eliminated in the group stages last year in Rwanda. Kenya will host the 2018 tournament.
