Christian Molokwu grabbed a brace as resurgent Nnewi United dealt a massive blow to Crown Football Club of Ogbomoso’s promotion ambition to the Nigeria Professional Football League Saturday evening with a 3-1 defeat at Rojenny Stadium, Oba, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
But the major talking point of the Nigeria National League thriller was Ugochukwu Anozie’s extraordinary strike on 76 minutes which halved the scoreline for the visiting Crown FC. Crown were trailing 2-0 before the maveric forward let go a fierce right footed effort which evaded every leg and goalkeeper’s fully-stretched hands to find its way into the bottom corner like a rocket.
The goal would have easily won, without contest, the NPFL VAT Wonder Goal of the week had the game been a Premier League tie. Ugochukwu Anozie picked his target and let go a right footed effort from the far left after the Anaedo Lions backline had frantically broken the visitors attack. The Nigeria National League Southern Conference matchday-21 fixture saw the home side take a first half lead through Christian Molokwu. Ndubuisi Ekwuribe doubled the lead on 76 minutes, but the major talking point of the game was Crown FC’s Ugochukwu Anozie’s strike which halved the deficit on 80th minute.
However, three minutes later, Christian Molokwu completed his brace on the night after restoring the home side’s two-goal lead. The result meant that Heartland will restore their six-point lead at the top of the table irrespective of the outcome of Sunday’s games between Go-Round versus Bayelsa United and First Bank versus Delta Force.
