Musa, Ndidi, Mahrez Shine As Leicester Beat Luton Town

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi and Ahmed Musa were in action Wednesday night for  Leicester City as they defeated League Two side Luton Town 1-0 at Kenilworth Road in a pre-season friendly, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Wantaway Riyad Mahrez scored the Foxes’ goal in the second half with an assist from Musa.

Musa was a thorn against the defence of the hosts with his pace, who had in defence Nigerian-born Akin Famewo.

Musa combined well with his teammates as they created a goal scoring chance in the 11th minute but the ball was cleared out of danger.

Ndidi had a chance to get on the scoresheet in the first half but the ball hit the side nettting.

The lively Musa teed up Danny Simpson after a brilliant chest control of the ball in the 26th minute but the ball was cleared. The Nigerian was also involved in yet another move two minutes later but yet again the effort came to nothing.

Musa’s shot was was not on target just before the half time whistle went and it was scorelless after the first half but his call for a penalty when his shot hit a Luton defender was waved away.

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare made some substitutions in the second half, one of which saw Ndidi replaced by Andy King.

Danny Drinkwater went for the spectacular with ten minutes left on the match clock and his effort was inches off target.

Leicester broke the deadlock seven minutes before full time, this time Musa providing the assist.  The forward rounded the keeper but selflessly laid the ball for  Algerian international Mahrez who slotted into the net.
