Lacazette: Thank You Iwobi For Assisting My First Arsenal Goal

By James Agberebi:

Arsenal record signing, Alexandre Lacazette, has thanked Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi for the assist that led to the Frenchman’s first goal for the Gunners in Thursday’s 2-0 pre-season friendly win against Sydney FC. Lacazette only joined Arsenal last week for a fee that could rise to £52m.

Both Iwobi and Lacazette were on the bench from the start of the game before coming on for Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck respectively in the 68th minute.

Arsenal’s skipper Per Mertesacker opened the scoring in the fourth minute with an overhead kick before Iwobi provided the assist for Lacazette to score his first ever goal for Arsenal to seal the win.

Lacazette expressed his delight getting on the score sheet while praising Iwobi for the Super Eagles star’s part in the goal.

“Happy to score my 1st goal with my new Team !! Thanks @alexiwobi.. great assist,” the former Lyon striker wrote on Twitter.

Arsenal’s next pre-season game comes up on Saturday against Western Sydney Wanderers.
