Kelechi Nwakali waits on Arsenal

Premier League club, Arsenal, are now shopping for a club where Nigeria youngster, Kelechi Nwakali, will be loaned out to in the coming season.

Nwakali, 18, helped Nigeria win the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile; making it five times the West African nation has won the trophy.

Last year, he was signed by Arsenal for a fee thought to be in the region of £2.5m.

He was sent out on a season-long loan to Dutch second division side, MVV Maastricht, who were denied promotion to the top league by Roda on the final day of the Dutch season.

Last week, Nwakali and his agent, Allwell Nwakali, who incidentally is his older brother, arrived London after the summer break to hold talks with the Arsenal hierarchy on the youngster’s future.

“It was agreed at the meeting that Kelechi (Nwakali) will be further sent out on loan for the upcoming season”, Emeka Amajiriaku, proprietor of ASJ Football Academy, Eziobodo, near Owerri, who own Kelechi’s footballing right said.

“Right now, they are still considering the club where he will be sent to.

“The good thing is that we are very okay with the decision for him to further go out on loan.

“At least, he will have playing time while out on loan and that will help his development faster.”
