LThe just-concluded local government election in Kebbi State which the candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won has described as a monumental fraud by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a reaction to the outcome of the election on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, the PDP urged lovers of democracy and credible elections to reject it.
Through its spokesman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mayeh, the PDP said that the results announced by the electoral body were nothing but a monumental fraud and a rape on democracy.
Mayeh said that the results had been pre-determined by the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC). He alleged that figures were allocated to APC candidates before the election.
The PDP spokesman said that his party had rejected the results and would take appropriate step in due course seek redress.
He appealed to members of the party to remain calm.
Meanwhile, KESIEC Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad Mera, declared that the election was transparent, free and fair.
Mera said: “Having been satisfied by the various returning officers in the 21 LGAs of the state, I hereby declare these results which APC swept the chairmanship positions with wide gap.”
