Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, is delighted to have rescued Arsenal from defeat after scoring a late goal to make it 1-1 in the Gunners’ 3-2 penalty win against Bayern Munich at the 2017 International Champions Cup in Shanghai, China on Wednesday.
Iwobi, who was brought on for Mesut Ozil at the start of the second half, finished off a superb counter-attack with a header off a cross from Aaron Ramsey in the 90th minute to send the game into penalties.
Poland striker Robert Lewandowski had given Bayern Munich the lead in the ninth minute from the penalty spot following Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ foul on Juan Bernat.
Iwobi went on to praise his teammates for not relenting despite being a goal down.
“Good Team Spirit To Get Back Into The Game Last Minute And Win. Nice To Get A Goal Too,” Iwobi wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
In Arsenal’s first pre-season game against Sydney FC which they won 2-0 last week Thursday, Iwobi provided an assist for new signing Alexandre Lacazette for the Gunners’ second goal.
