ICC: Tottenham Edge 10-Man PSG

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Tottenham Hotspur claimed their first win of the International Champions Cup with a 4-2 win over ten-man Paris Saint-Germain in the early hours of Sunday (Nigerian time) at the Camping World Stadium, Orlando, Florida, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

PSG started brightly and scored first through Edison Cavani. Javier Pastore got the other goal for the French side while Cristian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane scored for the English Premier League team.

Cavani got on to the end of a counter attacking move which culminated with an Adrien Rabiot cross to put the French billionaires ahead in the 6th minute.

Spurs’ playmaker Eriksen however equalised for the north London side with a long range strike just five minutes later.

Dier closed down PSG keeper Kevin Trapp as he attempted to launch the ball out of his area but his kick was weak and low and the ball deflected off the midfielder and into the net in the 18th minute.

Pastore scored PSG’s second goal of the match in the 36th minute after receiving a pass from Rabiot before firing the ball to the top of the net.

PSG were reduced to ten men when goalkeeper Trapp misjudged the flight of the ball, handling it outside the box and in the process bringing down Harry Kane just a minute into the second half that saw a raft of changes made by the coaches of both sides.

In the 82nd minute Alderweireld got Spurs back in front when he let fly a great shot after Kenya international Victor Wanyama laid a pass for him.

With two minutes left to play, Brazilian defender Marquinhos handled the ball in PSG’s penalty area. Kane took the resultant kick and scored.
