Former Nigeria international Edema Fuludu has expressed dismay at certain aspects of the second-tier Nigerian National League, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Fuludu starred for BCC Lions in the mid-1990s and is now the Vice-Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, who oversee two NNL clubs Delta Force and Warri Wolves.
“Well there are a lot of good players and the organisation with sponsorship is getting better but a lot needs to be done in areas of security and some of the approved pitches,” former Super Eagles midfielder Fuludu told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Also a lot of the clubs still treat players’ welfare with ignominy.
“Clubs still travel distances of more than 300km to play matches and go back same day, a situation also seen in the NPFL.”
Fuludu also called for transparency in match officiating.
“There’s still a lot of inducements of match officials by club officials by club administrators,” he added.
“The integrity initiative needs to be expanded to reach out and help in this regard.”
There are thirteen rounds of matches to be played in the second tier of the season of the NNL in the Southern and Northern Conferences.
